Planning & Zoning

Princeton_Sign_on_Highway_95_5.13.09_(4)_WebIn cooperation with residents, business owners, developers, and the Planning Commission, staff work to ensure that the community follows the goals and policies found in the Comprehensive Plan, which are implemented through the Zoning Ordinance.

The Comprehensive Plan is a long-range planning document that addresses the future goals and policies that guide development and redevelopment in the Princeton community. It is a tool to promote a healthier community and addresses land use, transportation, housing, infrastructure, parks, and trails.  In March 2020, the Planning Commission initiated a Comprehensive Plan update process that looked closely at changing development patterns around the Municipal Airport and in the commercial districts.  The plan was adopted in 2020 which included a Future Land Use Map for the current municipal limits, as well as created a growth plan for areas adjacent to the City.

The Future Land Use Plan is used by the Planning Commission and City Council in making decisions related to land use and public infrastructure investments.

For questions or more information please call City Hall at 763-389-2040 or contact the Community Development Staff.
