Alzheimer's & Dementia Awareness: The Princeton Police Department is dedicated to keeping the residents of Princeton safe, especially those with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (AD/D), who may leave their home and become lost. For that reason, we offer a free Adult Information Kit for families and caregivers who are caring for someone with AD/D. In addition, we strive to help make Princeton a "dementia friendly community" so that persons with Alzheimer's disease and dementia are met with understanding and support. We are in the process of putting together a brochure for business owners, "Becoming a Dementia Friendly Business," which you will be hearing more about in the near future.
School Resource Officer: The Princeton Police Department is proud to have officers assigned to the Princeton Schools. School Resource Officer Nicole Josephes has an office at the Princeton Middle School and can be reached directly by calling 763-389-6759. School Resource Officer Kristi Kuyper has an office at the Princeton High School and can be reached directly at 763-389-6040.
Canine Officer: The Princeton Police Department proudly utilizes a Canine Patrol Unit in its force. Officer Jason Cederberg and his canine partner, "Bogey," are a valuable asset to keeping our community safe.
Reserve Officers: There are currently four Reserve Officers serving with the Princeton Police Department. Their duties include commercial and residential building checks, security/ crowd control for special events, and riding along with patrol officers. Tours / Presentations: The Princeton Police Department offers special groups, such as scouts or school classes, tours of the PD facilities. We also offer special presentations regarding various topics to outside organizations. To schedule a tour or presentation please contact Chief Todd Frederick by calling 763-389-4879.
Child Seats: Whether you simply have questions regarding appropriate seat selection, or you need assistance in proper installation, there is help available. Please e-mail Officer Nicole Josephes or call 763-389-4879 to schedule an appointment or ask questions.
Fingerprinting: Fingerprinting services at the Princeton Police Department are provided on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 1:00p.m. to 3:00 p.m, and are subject to officer availability. The $10.00 fee must be paid in cash or check. The Sherburne County Sheriff's Office (763-765-3500) and the Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Office (320-983-8250) provide this service as well and can be contacted for their days, times, and fees.
Permit to Purchase Firearm: Applications for a permit to purchase a firearm can be acquired from the Princeton Police Department if you are a resident of the City of Princeton. If you live outside city limits, contact your local Sheriff's Office. Applications for "permit to carry" are handled by the Sheriff's Office.
Prescription Disposal: The Princeton Police Department provides a secure depository in our lobby for prescription drugs. Accepted items include prescribed medications, over the counter medications, vitamins, samples, ointments, lotions and pet medications. Items that are NOT accepted are thermometers, needles, blood or infectious waste, medications from businesses, hydrogen peroxide, aerosol cans, and inhalers. Lobby hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
