Chickens

chicken_WebThe keeping of chicken hens within Princeton city limits requires approval of an Interim Use Permit in the R-1, R-2, and R-3 Zoning Districts. 

The following provides a summary of the regulations in regards to keeping chickens:

  • Roosters are prohibited.
  • No more than four chickens are allowed per property. 
  • Only allowed on single family lots.
  • Leg banding is required.
  • Outdoor slaughtering and chicken fighting is prohibited.
  • A separate coop is required to house the chickens.
  • An enclosed run or exercise yard is required.
